Evernote Ed.D.

One of the of the most repeated pieces of advice for teachers is that documentation is paramount. Document your parent calls, document your grading, document your parent conferences, document your planning, and document your reflections on your work and performance are just a few of the pieces of advice that are given. In fact, the new online evaluation apps that many states use require teachers to document the "artifacts" that demonstrate their performance in required teaching standards.  Yet, with all the advice to document, little is done to show teachers how to do so. The little that is offered advises teachers to use notebooks and filing systems but the advice comes with no training on how to determine what is valuable enough to save, let alone a system in which to save it.

Evernote is an online word processor, electronic filing cabinet, note-taking, and file-sharing service all rolled into one. Using it will help teachers create shareable lesson plans, document educational research, reflect on their performance in an organized way, post detailed notes for students, as well as a myriad of other tasks that they need to do.  It is the informational Swiss Army Knife that every teacher and administrator needs. This blog will be an online "staff development" on how to use Evernote to make teaching and documentation easier and more methodical. Over the course of this blog we will explore an many possible uses of Evernote in the educational setting.
